Buchan and Gelantipy Racing Club

Report for Buchan 7th February 2009
Justin Willaton has provided the following report and photos from the Buchan meeting:

This year saw the 122nd running of the Buchan & Gelantipy Race Club Cup ran at Canni Creek. The meeting was run in extreme heat and while there were a number of scratchings the racing was very competitive. While the meeting was very much a success it would have to be said that the weather did keep many spectators away. Those that did attend all had a great time. There were three runners in the Cup which was won by Ancient Faeroe ridden by Kane Harris and trained by Charmaine Barnes by ¾ of a length to a very gallant Miss Gisborne ridden by Karen Gillahan which fought on very well, ahead of the fast finishing Reddy For Kerry ridden by Shane McGovern, which made up some six lengths over the final 400m.

Kane Harris rode a treble while six individual trainers prepared the winners.

Some of the stand out performers were Purple Zar, Urban Gypsy, Ancient Faeroe and Kiarchs Luck which all won very well.
